Atmosphere - Music that takes you on a journey.

Atmosphere. That word has a few meanings for me. First of all it’s a piece of music that kickstarted a project that I’ve been working on for the last five years. It has turned into the album Atmosphere, which I’m going to release as part of my electronic music project BOSKER. It’s an atmospheric album with a lot of melodies and a big ambience. But I wouldn’t call it strictly ambient music, because there’s a lot going on.

The various meanings of the word atmosphere were a direct inspiration. Atmosphere, the part of our planet that surrounds us and that gives us life. And atmosphere, the mood that gets created by a certain piece of music, the feeling you have walking on a remote beach, the enjoyment of meeting friends at a party.

Now that word has a new meaning for me. Over the last five years it has dominated my life. Eight pieces of music that build up an emotional arc, an ambience, a story without words. A sound-world that transports the listener away from reality to wherever your daydreams take you.

In my previous blog-post you can read how the project came about. It’s all thanks to my friends Sarah Curro and Paul Davies. Finishing the first piece for Sarah only opened the floodgates and I kept writing. And Sarah kept performing.

Here is a video of her performing the third piece of the album. At that stage it didn’t even have a name yet. Now it does - Phoenix. In this video Sarah plays a semi-acoustic Spur violin created by Paul Davies.
