Working on a dream

How long it takes to make a dream a reality sometimes doesn't matter. It's fun to keep the dream alive and steadily work towards it. So I was taken aback somewhat when the opportunity came up out of the blue. We were to move out of the noisy and busy city and set up shop in the countryside. But not too far out of town.

So this is the dream that suddenly made itself happen: “Wouldn't it be nice to have a little farm not too far away where we can grow our own food and where I can have a proper studio to work in? A place where I can just make music and no-one gets annoyed by the noise I make?”

Country living. It’s quite the inspirational view for relaxed music, right?

Bamm!! There it is. Look at the space! Countryside? Tick. Studio? Tick. As of writing this, the last three months were taken up by converting a big double garage into my studio.

Add insulation in the walls and the ceiling, line the walls with plywood and curtain fabric, install new windows inside, change the lights, build a wall to cover the garage door. And la voila!

I've already been busy making music in there. Here's my inauguration jam. A little atmospheric piece that I came up with on the spot. And it features my new telecaster guitar. (A treat to myself for all my hard work.) I hope you like it.
